Dr. Bassem Bastorous, DVM

My name is Dr. Bassem Bastorous and I earned my B.Sc of Veterinary Medicine in 1999. My entrepreneurship began in early 2000 in the form of a poultry farm and at the same time I joined the Bristol-Mayer's-Squibb Pharmaceutical Company. My family and I moved to Edmonton in 2012 where I studied for my qualification certificate which I earned in 2016 becoming a licensed Veterinarian in both Canada and the United States. I have volunteered with many organizations such as Alberta Spay Neuter Task Force, Edmonton Humane Society, Sherwood Veterinary hospital and Windermere Veterinary hospital for 2 years. In 2016 I began practicing in emergency hospitals.

I am now a co-owner of the Southfort Veterinary Clinic and have an interest in many areas of veterinary medicine including Small Animal Surgery, Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, and Companion Animal Dentistry. The part I love most about my job is dealing with challenge cases, working with my team, and putting smiles on my clients' faces.

Dr. Hanna Bishay, DVM

I am married and have three grown sons. I was born and raised in Egypt where I witnessed many cats and dogs being neglected. This inspired me to dedicated my life to helping animals. I trained in Egypt and after graduating, I spent ten years in Egypt working had to do my best for all the animals I could help. I moved to Canada in 1994, and enrolled in the University of Prince Edward Island Veterinary School, where I continued to expand my training and skills prior to completing the Canadian Veterinary Board exams. After graduation, I moved with my family to Swift Current, Saskatchewan for one year of work, then to Edmonton where I worked in a few practices around the Edmonton area. In 2015, I decided to fulfill my dream, and opened my own clinic in Sherwood Park. Now I have expanded my dream and opened another clinic in Fort Saskatchewan. I am here for your pets to give them the best service I can, that is why our hours are extended to work for our clients. In my free time, I like to travel and spend quality time with my family.

Carly, RVT

Carly here! I’ve been an RVT since I graduated from NAIT in the class of 2017. This was quite a change from my previous career of Hairstyling and Esthetics which I did for about 7 years. My passion for learning, science, and animals of all kinds motivated me to go back to school. At home I have my naked little sphynx kitty named Neil Patrick Hairless! In my spare time I like to make my own clothes and costumes, and binge watch my favourite shows while making my own catnip filled cat toys.

Registered Veterinary Technician

Alyssa, RVT, Certified Nutritional Consultant

My name is Alyssa and I have been working in Veterinary Medicine since 2012. While I have always loved animals my original interest in veterinary medicine arose from volunteering at a wildlife animal rescue during my summers which started when I was 8. Working with these animals taught me a lot about the different dietary needs of many species and spurred my interest in animal nutrition. I received 3 certificates in animal nutrition in addition to my formal training at NAIT. I have graduated both the VMA and AHT programs and am always interested in learning more about our furry companions. I am also a self proclaimed crazy cat lady with 4 cats, the oldest of which I have had since she was born in 1996. While I do love dogs and have 3 of my own, my true passion is feline medicine starting from newborn care and behavior assessments to kidney failure and disease management. I am always happy to answer any questions and will often talk your ear off if you ask me anything about cats!
